Hike & fly started with the beginning of our sport whenparagliders were used as a way of descending after climbing a mountain. Recentglider developments and new light materials have revived this trend.

Allkinds of motives have led to a vast range of gliders suitable for variousactivities and pilots: The extreme athlete who wants to hike up a mountainquickly but doesn’t want to walk back down again; the hobby pilot who wants tokeep fit; the ‘soul-flyer’ who prefers to enjoy nature alone; or the XC pilotwho plans bivouac trips covering long distances.

WithAirDesign Superlight gliders, the same flying behaviour as our standard wings,along with a reduction in weight and small packing volume are matters of the utmostimportance.

Ifyou want to go on long trekking tours, you need additional space for equipment.

Whentravelling, for example by train or plane, low weight and small packing volumeare a great advantage.

Ifa pilot doesn’t want to carry much weight in general, Superlight equipment isalso the right choice.

•All Superlight gliders are delivered with the AirPack Light, so the wing can bepacked as small as possible. The packing volume of a Superlight glider is atleast 30% smaller than of a standard glider.

•AirDesign Superlight wings come with unsheathed lines as standard. As anoption, they can be ordered with sheathed lines.

• The reduction in glider weight is about 20-30% (dependingon glider type). If you also use a light-weight backpack, harness, and rescuesystem, your total equipment has half the weight of standard equipment!

Pilot Profile：

TheAirDesign SuSi2 is a multi-purpose mini-wing:

-For hike & fly pilots as an alternative to a standard paraglider wing. Dueto it´s small size and light weight SuSi2 has a very small packing volume. With its excellent glide performance, new terrain can be explored.

-Dynamic Free Flying - More and more pilots get into asymmetrics, barrel rollsetc. SuSi2 with its great agility and direct handling is a fun package.

-Strong-Wind Soaring - Thanks to the higher trim speed, SuSi pilots are stillable to fly, while others have to remain on the ground.  Also in normalconditions, SuSi2 has great thermal abilities.

Size20 is our 'entry' level SuSi2, suitable for newcomers to mini-wings and forheavy pilots.

Weconsider size 18 the standard size of SuSi2. It is perfectly suitable for mostexperienced pilots.

Size16 is another 4 km/h faster. It exhibits more energy in turns and dynamicmanoeuvres. It is suited for experts or very light pilots.

Size14 is the extreme wing with very high speed and the shortest brake travel. Werecommend it to expert pilots only.

Design Details

•   The airfoil of SuSi2 was developed especially for this type ofwing together with technology developed for our 2-line race gliders.

•   A new line-layout results in relatively neutral flyingcharacteristics and reduction in total line consumption.

•   3-line concept with split D at the upper C-lines.

•   Nylon rods in the leading edge keep the profile in perfect shapeand improve performance and launch characteristics.

•   3D Cut: a technical sail cutting method used across the leadingedge area. This produces an improved air flow and increased performance.

•   Performance style reinforced 12mm risers, speed system, adjustablebrake handles and dirt-holes at the wing tips complete the quality finish.

•  RazorEdge: A specially designed, precise trailing edge cutting technique which optimizesthe profile and improves the glide substantially.
